British boy bands One Direction and The Wanted have decided to call a truce over their battle for the US.
The British boys have ended months of sniping by swapping numbers and have even started hanging out together.
The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes revealed the peace deal after an awkward run-in at a US TV studio recently. The 18-year-old admitted ‘we were rehearsing with them the other day’ and declared: ‘We’re all pals.’
Sykes said he and 1D’s Liam Payne, 18, had become particularly close, adding: ‘I was texting Liam earlier.’
Explaining the backstage run-in, Sykes admitted it was The Wanted who were left embarrassed after they were busted by their rivals singing a One Direction song.
‘We were walking into the studio really embarrassingly singing the song their band were rehearsing to and we’re there singing it,’ he said.
‘Then we turn around and they’re stood there like, “We’ll that’s embarrassing” and we’re like “Boys, how’s it going?” But, no, it’s all good.’
Clearing up claims 1D ‘tried to flee’ their Saturday Night Live rehearsal when they found out The Wanted were rehearsing for American Idol at the same time at LA’s CenterStaging, Sykes said: ‘I think we intimidate a lot of people but I’m pretty sure we don’t intimidate other teenage boys.’
The Wanted’s Max George, 23, kicked things off in Guilty Pleasures when he branded 1D ‘more faces’ for children’s TV.
‘We don’t talk,’ he said.
